Get to know Jay & David

Barry Jr. (Jay) Gallup

President

Jay started working at Rhode Island Engine Co., Inc. part-time while he was in High School as soon as he secured his driver’s license. Upon graduation from High School, Jay started working full time for the company. Although the company offered a wide variety of services, Jay’s talent and skills pulled him towards marine diesel engines.

As time went on, Jay learned and developed a unique expertise in all the major diesel engine brands as well as transmissions. This expertise and Jay’s ability to connect with people served him well as he took over as President and part owner of the company in 2003. Jay developed a company culture from the top down whereby satisfying our customer is the number one priority. He feels if this happens everything else will fall into place. Jay takes pride in providing his personal and direct service to customers. “You will not find anyone in the company wearing fancy sports coats – We simply provide good old fashion Customer Service.”

David Gallup

Vice President

David started working at Rhode Island Engine Co., Inc. part-time while he was in High School as soon as he secured his driver’s license. Upon graduation from High School, David started working full time for the company. Since David graduated from the Voc Tech program he was a natural fit working in the machine shop and on hydraulics.

As time went on, David was exposed and learned just about every position in the shop and developed expertise in all the services we offer. When David became part owner and Vice-President of the company in 2003, the fact that he learned from the bottom up provided him a unique perspective as he manages the shop today and schedules all the jobs. There are not too many owners of company’s today that have learned their business the way David has. Our customers can communicate directly with Dave and benefit from all his knowledge and experience. Dave’s focus is on satisfying the customer first and doing the job right the first time.
